General
What is a medical second opinion?
A medical second opinion is an independent review of your diagnosis, treatment plan, medical records, imaging, and clinical questions by a specialist. It is designed to help you better understand your condition and discuss your options with your treating physician.
How long does it take?
Most complete cases are reviewed within 3–5 business days after all required medical records, imaging, and clinical information have been submitted. Complex cases may require additional time.
Process
What documents do I need?
You may need to upload relevant medical records, specialist reports, discharge summaries, imaging files, lab results, pathology reports, medication lists, and a short description of your main clinical questions. If anything is missing, our coordination team will guide you.
How do I upload CT/MRI files?
CT, MRI, PET, Echo, X-ray, and other imaging files can be uploaded through the secure Philomedix portal. DICOM format is preferred when available, but our coordination team can advise if you are unsure which files to provide.
Security & Privacy
Are my files safe?
Yes. Philomedix uses secure digital workflows and encrypted file transfer designed for sensitive medical information. Access to patient files is restricted to the coordination team and the specialist assigned to the case.
Where is my data stored?
Patient files are handled through secure digital infrastructure. Philomedix uses EU-hosted infrastructure where applicable and follows privacy-focused workflows designed for sensitive medical data.
Payments
When do I pay?
Payment is typically completed before the specialist review begins. Once your case is submitted and the appropriate review pathway is confirmed, you will be guided through the payment process.
What is your refund policy?
Refund eligibility depends on the stage of the case. If the specialist review has not yet started, a refund may be possible. Once a case has been assigned and the medical review has begun, refunds may be limited or unavailable. The coordination team can advise based on your case status.
Medical Use
Will your doctors change my treatment plan?
No. Philomedix specialists do not replace your treating doctor or directly change your treatment plan. The expert opinion is advisory and intended to support your discussions with your current care team.
Can I discuss results with your specialist?
In some cases, an optional secure video consultation may be available after the written expert opinion is delivered. This allows you to discuss the findings and clarify key points directly with the specialist, where appropriate.
